The Sentosa Announces the Winners of the “Tranquility in a Bustling City” Photography Competition

Celebrating our new website launch www.thesentosa.com and Singapore’s melting pot of cultures, festivities and inspiring creations of tranquil destination escapes amidst the concrete jungles, The Sentosa Resort & Spa launched its first-ever Photography Competition - “Tranquility in a Bustling City” on 15 December 2008. From then till 28 February 2009, we have received overwhelming response from avid photographers. We would like to thank all participants for their support for the competition and the boundless creativity and inspiration expressed in their works.

After a much difficult and stringent selection process, three splendid entries have won the favour of our professional judges and emerged as winners for this competition. Themed “Tranquility in a Bustling City”, the winners have distinctly captured Singapore as a resort getaway amidst a cosmopolitan city in their works that best depict elements of tranquility and relaxation or a sense of getaway and escape in Singapore.

“The response was fantastic and it was a difficult decision to select the best. This campaign is indeed a success as it not only heightens awareness for our revamped website, for which we have received much positive feedback from our guests and partners, but also uncovered many talents in photography,” said Nigel Grocock, General Manager of The Sentosa.

An award presentation was held on 16 April 2009 at The Sentosa. The winners were proudly presented with their prizes by Mr Nigel Grocock amidst the lush garden setting of the resort’s meeting room, Sarong. The winners and their guests enjoyed a light cocktail reception in celebration of their win with heartfelt congratulations from the resort’s management and staff.

“Photography is not just a hobby for me to make good use of my free time. It also helps me to click away the stress in our bustling city. They are many ways to de-stress in this bustling city and wakeboarding is one of them. My winning entry shows 'Tranquility' can also be found even in the heart of a bustling city like Marina Bay. Winning this prize is like an added bonus to me and it is also a booster for me to take on more future competitions,” enthused first prize winner, Mr Goh Koon Peng.
